Jonny and Ilya’s art comes from a variety of disciplines including painting, photography, sketch work and collage, but is unified by a focus on abstract expression and a free-form approach to their creative process. Their fixations tend to lead them away from the representational toward reflections of the unseen inner world, or a desire to create a defined mood through their art. Some of their work could be defined as Surrealist in nature, but when taken as a whole, their style has its roots in a much wider range of distinct artistic modes that defies categorisation with a singular movement or style. Key influences include, but are not limited to, Yuriy Mamleev, René Magritte, Marcel Duchamp, Hiroshi Sugimoto and Ralph Steadman.
